The Body Speaks Quietly First
Most of the signals our bodies send us begin quietly.
Fatigue.
Brain fog.
Difficulty concentrating.
Feeling overwhelmed by things that normally would not bother us.
Trouble sleeping even when we are exhausted.
Changes in appetite.
A shorter temper than usual.
The sense that something feels "off" even when we cannot quite explain why.
Many of us have learned to push through these experiences instead of becoming curious about them.
~ We reach for more caffeine.
~ We promise ourselves we will rest next week.
~ We convince ourselves that everyone feels this way.
~ We normalize the whispers.
Until eventually the whispers become louder.
The body is remarkably intelligent.
Long before it demands our attention, it often begins by asking for small adjustments:
More rest.
More nourishment.
More movement.
More sunlight.
More quiet.
More support.
More margin.
The body is rarely working against us.
More often, it is communicating.
One of the most meaningful reminders of this came during a recent wellness experience shared with the community at Coffee + Coworking hosted by Neesha James. Gathering outdoors, moving together, breathing deeply, and simply slowing down served as a beautiful reminder that wellness is not always found in doing more.
Sometimes wellness begins by creating enough space to notice what has been there all along.
Sometimes the most important question is not:
"How do I make this go away?"
but rather:
"What might my body be trying to tell me?"
That single shift in perspective has the potential to change everything.
Because when we approach the body with curiosity instead of frustration, we create the possibility for understanding.
And understanding often becomes the beginning of healing.
Reflection
Take a moment to consider:
What has your body been asking for recently?
Have you been hearing the whispers or waiting for the alarm?
What is one small way you could support yourself this week?
Perhaps the answer is:
Rest.
Water.
Movement.
Sunlight.
Boundaries.
Connection.
Quiet.
The answer does not need to be dramatic to be meaningful.
